Batter Soumya Sarkar is likely to miss the beginning of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan due to visa complications. Soumya rejoined the T20I squad after regular captain Litton Das was excluded from the series due to a side muscle injury sustained during the Asia Cup.

Soumya, who was called up due to his impressive performance in the NCL T20, with scores of 63 and 45 in his first two games, was training in Sylhet on Tuesday (September 30).

“As of now, he has not received the visa (for UAE) and we are awaiting it. If obtained tomorrow, he will travel at the earliest,” a BCB official told Cricbuzz.

It’s anticipated that acquiring a visa could take up to three days, which might result in him missing the series opener. The series in Sharjah is set to take place on October 2, 3, and 5, followed by three ODIs between the two teams.
