Venkatesh Prasad Triumphs in KSCA Presidential Election

Venkatesh Prasad Elected as New KSCA President

In a significant development, former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad triumphed over K.N. Shanth Kumar, Director of The Printers (Mysore) Pvt. Limited, with a vote count of 749-558, becoming the new president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Sunday.

Prasad’s team, aptly named ‘Team Game Changers’, found great success, securing four out of the five major office-bearer positions.

The victorious candidates from ‘Team Game Changers’ included former India batter Sujith Somasundar as Vice President, Santosh Menon as Secretary, and B.N. Madhukar as Treasurer.

In the race for Joint Secretary, B.K. Ravi narrowly defeated A.V. Shashidara with a vote tally of 669-638, marking Ravi as the sole office-bearer from Shanth’s ‘Team Brijesh’ group.

Excitement and celebration filled the air on Sunday night as Prasad and his team celebrated their electoral successes. Former India captain Anil Kumble was quick to extend his congratulations to Prasad.

One of the main issues ‘Team Game Changers’ faces is the renovation of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which has been out of commission for international matches since a tragic stampede earlier in the year claimed 11 lives.

Prasad expressed his commitment to rejuvenating the esteemed stadium. He stated, “This victory is foremost a win for cricket. It’s also a victory for everyone who advocated for change and desired the return of international cricket to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. It’s a victory for all stakeholders, particularly the fans.”

Santosh Menon emotionally remarked that the election outcome represented a “victory for truth and fairness”. The voting process commenced earnestly on Sunday morning, with 1,307 voters participating. Notable personalities such as former India captain Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar were among those who cast their votes.

After voting, Shivakumar dismissed any notions of the 2026 IPL matches being relocated from Bengaluru, affirming, “I will not allow the shifting of IPL matches away from here; we will ensure they remain in Bengaluru. This is a matter of pride for Bengaluru and Karnataka.”
