V Chamundeswaranath has taken a new role in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the players’ representative to the Apex Council. Previously, he served as a member of the IPL Governing Council, a position now held by Shubhangi Kulkarni, who was the previous woman nominee to the Apex Council.
Shantha Rangaswamy, a former captain of the Indian women’s team, has been elected as the president of the ICA. The election for the Apex Council member was the only position contested wherein Chamundeswaranath defeated V Jadeja with a vote count of 755-83 from the total 838 votes cast through e-voting.
Chamundeswara Nath, a former captain of Andhra, replaces Dilip Vengsarkar on the Governing Council following the completion of his three-year term. These appointments were finalized after the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) elections, held in compliance with the Election Notification dated September 24, 2025.
