Upcoming ODI Fixtures: When Kohli and Sharma Return to the Pitch

Upcoming ODI Showdown: Kohli and Sharma Back in Action

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are scheduled to play for India in the ODI series against New Zealand in January 2026. They wrapped up their international commitments for 2025 with the conclusion of India’s three-match ODI series against South Africa on Saturday.

Both cricketing icons delivered impressive performances throughout the series. Kohli notched up two consecutive centuries in the first two ODIs, with scores of 135 and 102. On the other hand, Rohit contributed scores of 57 in the first match, 14 in the second, and then 75 in the series finale.

India’s next assignment is a three-match ODI series against New Zealand, commencing on January 11 in Vadodara, with subsequent matches slated for Rajkot and Indore.

Will Kohli and Rohit participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy?

Although the teams for their respective states—Delhi for Kohli and Mumbai for Rohit—haven’t been officially announced, reports indicate that both players are expected to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which kicks off later in December.

Since January of this year, the BCCI has mandated player participation in domestic cricket to qualify for international selection. Earlier this year, both Kohli and Rohit played in a Ranji Trophy match for their respective states, Delhi and Mumbai.

With aspirations to continue playing until the 2027 ODI World Cup, regular participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy is essential for both. Virat has confirmed his participation in the tournament, and while a formal announcement is yet to be made, Rohit is also anticipated to represent Mumbai.
