Tamil Nadu’s Missed Opportunities Allow Baroda to Secure Opening Day Stalemate
Tamil Nadu had a tough day on the field as they let Baroda slip away to safety, despite having them under pressure in the morning. The pitch became more favorable for batting after the first hour and a half, but Tamil Nadu missed some key opportunities in the field.
During the last two sessions, wicketkeeper S.R. Athish missed a stumping chance, giving Atit Sheth a lifeline when he was on 14. Earlier, Sheth also had a narrow escape when a sharp chance was missed by Andre Siddarth at short-leg.
“We should have taken a few more wickets. The pitch is good for batting, but those small things could have made a difference,” said Tamil Nadu head coach M. Senthilnathan.

Later in the day, Surkit Pandey was caught at short-leg off Sai Kishore, but the decision was overturned due to Kishore overstepping, which did not sit well with the coach.
“Overall, we bowled well and maintained pressure, not giving away runs easily. If we can take early wickets with the new ball tomorrow morning, we can keep them under 300,” added the Tamil Nadu head coach.
Senthilnathan also commended off-spinner J. Hemchudeshan, who is playing in only his second First-Class match. “There was some help for him in the morning, but he bowled brilliantly, hitting the right areas and getting batters out caught and stumped.”
