Stars of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup: Smriti, Deepti, and Jemimah Shine Bright
Three players from the triumphant Indian team have been selected for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Team of the Tournament. Deepti Sharma, who emerged as the leading wicket-taker with an impressive five for 39 in the final, is honored alongside fellow teammates Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues.
Joining these three are players from the runner-up team, South Africa: Laura Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp, and Nadine de Klerk. An equal number of Australian players—Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana King—are also included in the lineup.
Laura Wolvaardt has been appointed the team’s captain. The XI is rounded out by England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt and Sophie Ecclestone, as well as Pakistan’s wicketkeeper, Sidra Nawaz.
The selection panel consisted of commentators Ian Bishop, Mel Jones, and Isa Guha; Gaurav Saxena, ICC General Manager for Events and Corporate Communications; and journalist Estelle Vasudevan.

Openers Smriti Mandhana and Laura Wolvaardt, who faced off in the final, were named at the top of the order as they emerged as the leading run-scorers. Wolvaardt finished with 571 runs at an average of 71.37, while Mandhana scored 434 runs at 54.25. Jemimah Rodrigues claimed the No. 3 spot after her unbeaten 127 in the semifinal propelled India into the final. Deepti Sharma’s exceptional performance, leading to her tally of 22 wickets, was pivotal in the championship clash. England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt has been designated as the 12th player.
