South Zone’s Jagadeesan Thrives on Positivity and Focus from India Call Up
Around a month ago, N. Jagadeesan received his first call-up to the Indian Test team as a substitute for the injured Rishabh Pant. Although he didn’t play in the fifth Test match against England, just being a part of the Indian squad was a significant milestone for him.
This uplifting experience has boosted his performance in the Duleep Trophy, where Jagadeesan scored an impressive 197 runs, giving South Zone a strong position against North Zone.
“Being called up to the India team has definitely increased my confidence. It’s a dream for many, and I feel fortunate to have had that opportunity,” Jagadeesan commented on Friday.
The Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batter emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and not being overwhelmed by the experience. “It’s crucial not to let the experience overwhelm me or to imitate anyone else in the team. I’ve worked hard to reach this level, so I need to stay true to my own methods,” he explained.
With intense competition for the wicketkeeper-batter slot in the Indian team, Jagadeesan knows the importance of consistently delivering high scores in domestic matches. However, he remains cautious about not putting undue pressure on himself.
“I’m here to enjoy each match. I’m grateful for this chance, as playing in the Duleep Trophy, Ranji Trophy, or being part of the Indian team is something many aspire to do,” Jagadeesan said.
