Smriti Mandhana Reaches Landmark with 10,000 International Runs Achievement

On Sunday, Smriti Mandhana became the second Indian woman, after Mithali Raj, to surpass 10,000 runs in international cricket. Heading into the fourth T20I between India and Sri Lanka at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, she needed just 27 more runs to achieve this milestone. Remarkably, she accomplished this feat in only 20 deliveries.

Besides these two Indian players, only Suzie Bates and Charlotte Edwards have also reached this landmark. Smriti’s cricketing record includes 629 runs from seven Test matches and 5,322 runs from 117 One-Day Internationals. In Sunday’s match, she scored an impressive 80 runs off 48 balls, bringing her T20I total to 4,102 runs from 157 matches.

With this performance, Smriti has accumulated a total of 10,053 runs across all formats. Mithali Raj, the top run-scorer in women’s cricket history, concluded her career with 10,868 runs across three formats, leaving Smriti with the potential to surpass her record.
