Smriti and Shafali’s Record-Breaking Stand Lights Up IND W vs SL W T20I
In the fourth match against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma set a new record for the highest partnership in women’s T20Is for India. They achieved a remarkable 162-run opening partnership, surpassing their previous best of 143 runs against the West Indies in 2019.
Mandhana scored 80 runs off 48 balls, hitting 11 fours and three sixes, while Shafali added 79 runs off 46 deliveries, including 12 fours and a six. Together, they powered India to an impressive total of 221 for two, marking the highest team score for India in T20Is.
