Pakistani cricketer Sidra Amin received a reprimand for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during a match against India on Sunday, October 5, in Colombo. She also incurred one demerit point.

Amin acknowledged her violation and accepted the punishment suggested by match referee Shandre Fritz, following charges from the umpires.

Amin, who led with a 106-ball 81 for Pakistan, breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match,” after she forcefully hit her bat on the pitch upon dismissal.

A Level 1 offense may result in a fine of up to 50% of the player’s match fees and two demerit points.

In pursuit of a 248-run target, Pakistan was bowled out for 159, falling 88 runs short. They remain winless in the tournament after a previous loss to Bangladesh, and are set to play against Australia on October 8.
