Shubman Gill Joins Team in Guwahati Amid Doubts Over 2nd Test Appearance
India’s Test captain, Shubman Gill, has responded positively to treatment and will accompany the team to Guwahati today. He will remain under the supervision of the BCCI medical team, which will evaluate his condition further to determine his availability for the second Test starting on November 22.
Gill was admitted to the hospital following the second day of the Kolkata Test, after retiring hurt having faced just three balls in India’s first innings. The BCCI announced on the third morning that he would not participate further in the match.
Previously, Gill missed a Test against New Zealand in October 2024 due to a neck spasm.
Since IPL 2025, Gill has been playing continuous cricket across various formats and was among the four Test players who flew directly to Kolkata from Australia after the T20I series.
