Shreyas Iyer’s Fiery 82 Heralds Triumphant Return in Vijay Hazare Clash
Shreyas Iyer made a triumphant return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring an impressive 82 off 53 balls for Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh at the Jaipuria Vidhyalaya Ground in Jaipur on Tuesday. His innings featured 10 fours and three sixes, marking his first competitive match since recovering from a spleen injury sustained during India’s tour of Australia last October.
After the early dismissals of openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan, Mumbai found themselves at 55/2 in the eighth over. Shreyas, however, stabilized the innings alongside Musheer Khan, adding 82 runs from 54 balls. Following Musheer’s departure for 73 off 51 balls, Shreyas built a 65-run partnership in 39 balls with Suryakumar Yadav, helping Mumbai surpass the 200-run milestone in a match delayed by heavy fog in Jaipur.
Shreyas has been named in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming home series against New Zealand, with his participation dependent on passing a fitness assessment.
