Sciver Brunt’s Century Seals MI’s Dramatic Win Over RCB in WPL 2026

BCCI AGM Spotlight: Presidential Race Headlines Key Gathering

In four seasons of the Women’s Premier League, there had been ten individual scores in the 90s. However, on Monday evening, Nat Sciver-Brunt (100 not out from 57 balls, featuring 16 fours and 1 six) became the first player to achieve a century in the competition.

The Mumbai Indians star reached this milestone in the 20th over, helping her team post a total of 199 for four against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. This set up a 15-run victory for Harmanpreet Kaur’s team, despite a spirited 90 off 50 balls from Richa Ghosh.

In their chase of 200, RCB found themselves struggling early at 35 for five within 5.1 overs. Despite this, Richa Ghosh played valiantly at No. 6, keeping her team in contention late into the match. With RCB requiring 59 runs from the last two overs and only two wickets remaining, Richa hit the first three balls from Amanjot Kaur for sixes. Shreyanka Patil added to the excitement by hitting two more boundaries in an expensive 27-run penultimate over, reducing the equation to 32 needed from the final six balls. Richa continued to attack until she was dismissed by Amelia Kerr on the last ball of the game.

After being put in to bat, Sciver-Brunt formed an impressive second-wicket partnership of 131 runs from 73 balls with Hayley Matthews (who scored 56 and took three wickets for 10 runs).

Once the field restrictions lifted, Sciver-Brunt and Matthews showed initiative. Sciver-Brunt, in particular, attacked Nadine de Klerk by hitting a shot over mid-off in the seventh over.

When spin was introduced by Shreyanka, Sciver-Brunt skillfully executed a cut shot to the cover boundary. Following another mistake in the same over, she repeated the maneuver, earning yet another boundary.

This set MI up perfectly with nine wickets remaining for the next 10 overs, allowing Sciver-Brunt and Matthews to unleash a flurry of runs. They managed 67 runs between the 11th and 14th overs, leaving the RCB bowlers with few options. Although RCB found some relief when Lauren Bell bowled Matthews, allowing only 49 runs in the last five overs, Sciver-Brunt concluded MI’s innings with flair.
