Rumors of Sachin Tendulkar as Next BCCI President Debunked
Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has dismissed rumors suggesting he is in the running to become the next President of the BCCI. On Thursday, the 52-year-old’s representatives issued a clear statement quelling the speculation that he might succeed Roger Binny, whose term concluded in July due to the age limit of 70.
The statement emphasized: “We have noticed reports and rumors about Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered or nominated for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). We wish to categorically state that no such development has occurred and urge everyone to disregard these baseless speculations.”
The BCCI is preparing for its elections at the Annual General Meeting on September 28. Binny was named BCCI President in October 2022, with the Board’s constitution setting a maximum age limit of 70 for the role. Additionally, the AGM will see the appointment of the BCCI ombudsman, ethics officer, and the Board’s representative to the ICC.
