Rohit Sharma’s Golden Duck Marks Surprising Start in Mumbai vs Uttarakhand Clash
Rohit Sharma was out for a first-ball duck in Mumbai’s Elite phase match against Uttarakhand in Jaipur on Friday. The 38-year-old opener was caught at deep fine leg off the final delivery of the first over by right-arm medium pacer Akash Madhwal Bora. Jagmohan Nagarkoti completed the catch after initially fumbling.
This dismissal came just days after Rohit made a triumphant return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring a blistering 155 off 94 balls against Sikkim. That innings also saw him equal David Warner’s record for most 150-plus scores in List A cricket, with nine.
Like Virat Kohli, Rohit is making a comeback to India’s premier domestic 50-over competition. Kohli last played in the tournament in the 2009-10 season, while Rohit’s previous appearance was in the 2017-18 season. Both players, now retired from Tests and T20Is, are still contenders for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Rohit Sharma’s early dismissal left Mumbai at 1-1, prompting fans to slowly leave the stadium.
