Rohit Reflects Fondly on Thrilling Partnership with Kohli in Australia Victory

Rohit Reminisces on Dynamic Kohli Partnership in Australian Triumph

Rohit Sharma credited his stellar performance in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia to his dedication to preparing on his own terms. He revealed that this approach came from understanding that life encompasses more than just professional commitments.

In a standout performance, Rohit scored an unbeaten 121, leading India to a nine-wicket victory over Australia, thus preventing a series sweep. The hosts won the three-match series 2-1.

“I’ve never had four to five months to prepare for a series since the beginning of my career, so I wanted to make the most of this time. I focused on doing things my way, and it paid off, helping me understand what I need to do for the rest of my career,” Rohit shared with the BCCI website.

Despite this being his first appearance in competitive cricket since the IPL 2025 in May, Rohit earned the Man of the Match and Man of the Series titles against Australia.

“It was crucial to use this time because I’ve never had so much before. I prepared well at home, and although conditions differ here, having played in Australia multiple times, it was about finding my rhythm,” he explained.

Rohit emphasized the importance of personal preparation and the value of taking time for oneself, understanding that life offers more than just professional endeavors.

He also relished his match-winning partnership with Virat Kohli.

Rohit spoke about his enjoyment of playing in Australia and the challenge at the beginning of their innings. “We faced a bit of a challenge with two new balls as the pitch was slightly unpredictable. But once the ball’s shine wore off, it became easier.”

He expressed satisfaction over their long-awaited 100-run partnership, which was crucial given Shubman Gill’s early dismissal and Shreyas Iyer’s absence due to injury.

“We’ve played so much cricket together, and our mutual understanding and experience served us well,” he said.

Despite the series loss, Rohit saw several positives.

“There were a lot of takeaways from the series, especially Harshit Rana’s performance. It was his first time playing white-ball cricket in Australia, and his bowling in Sydney and Adelaide was exceptional,” he noted.

Rohit also expressed his gratitude towards the Australian crowd and Indian supporters.

“We’re very grateful to have such unwavering support. The fans come out in large numbers to watch good cricket, and their support has been incredible.”

He acknowledged the strong turnout and enthusiasm of the Australian crowds, expressing hope for their continued support.
