Rishabh Pant’s Vice-Captaincy Marks His Return in India’s Squad for South Africa Tests — See Full Team Roster
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday the 15-member squad for India’s upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to return to the Test team after missing the West Indies series due to a fractured foot, an injury from July during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Last week, Pant made a comeback by leading the India A team in the first unofficial Test against South Africa A in Bengaluru, where he scored a crucial 90 off 113 in the second innings, helping the team achieve a three-wicket victory.
Fast bowler Akash Deep also makes a return to the squad after missing the series against the Caribbeans due to an injury. However, Mohammed Shami, who performed well in the first two rounds of the Ranji Trophy representing Bengal, was not included in the squad.
The first Test is scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 14 to 18, followed by the second match in Guwahati from November 22 to 26.
Squad: Shubman Gill (captain), Rishabh Pant (vice-captain/wicketkeeper), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep.
