RCB Stuns with Record Chase in Electrifying WPL 2026 Opener Against MI

Royal Challengers Bengaluru triumphed over Mumbai Indians by three wickets, thanks to a remarkable all-round performance from South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk. This thrilling victory marked the start of the 2026 Women’s Premier League at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Friday.

The victory signifies RCB’s third-highest successful chase in the history of the WPL. After limiting Mumbai Indians to 154 for 6, the Smriti Mandhana-led team recovered from a challenging situation, with de Klerk scoring an impressive 63 off 44 balls to guide the chase to completion.

RCB’s highest successful chase in the tournament remains their opening-day win in the previous season, when they, as the 2024 champions, chased down a target of 202 against Gujarat Giants in Vadodara.
