Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2026 Squad: Babar Leads, Rauf and Rizwan Omitted
On Sunday, Pakistan unveiled its 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka next month.
Placed in Group A, Pakistan will face co-host and defending champion India, alongside Netherlands, USA, and Namibia.
Led by Salman Ali Agha, the 2009 T20 World Cup champions have omitted Haris Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan from the squad.
Babar Azam is part of the team, while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah will spearhead the pace attack, stepping in for Rauf, who remains Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in T20I cricket with 133 wickets in 94 matches.
“Rauf has been a key player for Pakistan, but the team selection was made considering the conditions in Sri Lanka,” Javed mentioned during a news conference.
