Pakistan Triumphs Over Kuwait to Clinch 2025 Hong Kong Sixes Title
In the final of the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 cricket tournament held at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on Sunday, Pakistan triumphed over Kuwait with a 43-run victory.
Pakistan set a daunting target by scoring 135 for three in just six overs, fueled by opener Abdul Samad’s explosive 42 runs from 13 balls and a rapid 52 off 11 balls from captain Abbas Afridi. In response, Kuwait was bowled out for 92 in 5.1 overs, with left-arm spinner Maaz Sadaqat claiming three wickets.
Pakistan began its campaign with a four-wicket win against Kuwait but faced a minor setback with a narrow two-run loss to India, determined by the DLS method. Following this, Pakistan secured a five-wicket win against South Africa in the quarterfinals and edged out Australia by one run in the semifinals to advance to the final.
This victory marked Pakistan’s sixth championship in the Hong Kong Sixes competition.
Kuwait also performed admirably throughout the tournament, securing wins against India, Afghanistan, and England to reach the final.
Conversely, India had a challenging tournament. Despite an opening victory over Pakistan by two runs, India suffered losses to Kuwait, the UAE, Nepal, and Sri Lanka in succession.
In the Indian team led by Dinesh Karthik, former fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun topped the scoring with 87 runs in four innings, while all-rounder Stuart Binny emerged as the leading wicket-taker, with three wickets.
