Pakistan Shaheens Roar to Victory Against Sri Lanka to Reach 2025 Rising Stars Asia Cup Final
Pakistan Shaheens secured a nail-biting five-run victory over Sri Lanka-A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025 semifinal held in Doha on Friday, earning a spot in the final against Bangladesh-A.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a total of 153/9, despite a shaky start that left them at 62/5 by the eighth over. Key contributions came from Ghazi Gori (39 off 36 balls), Saad Masood (22 off 25), and Ahmed Daniyal (22 off 8), helping captain Irfan Khan’s team set a competitive target.
Sri Lanka began their chase on a strong note, with openers Lasith Croospulle (27 off 7) and Vishen Halambage (29 off 27) establishing a solid foundation.
However, spinners Sufiyan Muqeem (3 for 12) and Saad Masood (3 for 18) staged a remarkable turnaround for Pakistan, dismantling Sri Lanka’s batting lineup and capturing six wickets for just 25 runs.
Milan Rathnayake of Sri Lanka (40 off 32) posed a late threat to snatch victory, but Ubaid Shah successfully defended 15 runs in the final over, leading Pakistan to triumph and into the final showdown on Sunday.
