Pakistan A Triumphs Over India A with Sadaqat’s Stellar All-Round Performance
India A experienced an unexpected batting collapse, resulting in an eight-wicket loss to Pakistan A during the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament in Doha on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Pakistan A elected to field and successfully restricted India A to 136 runs after a promising 91 for two in the 10th over. In response, Pakistan A comfortably chased down the target of 137 with 40 balls to spare, marking their second consecutive victory in the tournament. This defeat was India A’s first, following their strong start with a significant win against the UAE.
Pakistan A’s opener, Maaz Sadaqat, delivered a standout performance with an unbeaten 47-ball 79, adding to his two wickets with left-arm spin. His innings included seven fours and four sixes, although he had a fortunate escape when Vaibhav Suryavanshi dropped a straightforward catch at point.
India A, choosing to bat first, saw teen sensation Suryavanshi score a brisk 28-ball 45, while Naman Dhir contributed a quick 20-ball 35. However, the tide turned when Pakistan A’s bowlers, led by medium-pacer Shahid Aziz with figures of three for 24, staged a comeback. Leg-spinner Saad Masood and Sadaqat supported with two wickets each, as India A lost eight wickets for 45 runs in the last 10 overs, falling short of a projected 175 to 180 runs at the halfway mark.
Suryavanshi, fresh off a record century in the previous match, appeared in fine form with aggressive play before being caught by Mohammad Faiq at long-on after multiple replays confirmed the catch off Sufiyan Muqeem’s bowling. His dismissal marked a turning point, allowing Pakistan A to apply pressure and stifle the remaining Indian batters. Aziz, Masood, and Sadaqat maintained disciplined bowling to seal the victory for Pakistan A.
Brief Scores: India A 136 all out in 19 overs (Vaibhav Suryavanshi 45, Naman Dhir 35; Shahid Aziz 3/24) lost to Pakistan A 137/2 in 13.2 overs (Maaz Sadaqat 79 not out).
