PAK vs SL ODI Series Rescheduled Amidst Islamabad Incident

PAK vs SL ODI Series Rescheduled Following Islamabad Events

The final two matches of the ongoing One-Day International series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka have been rescheduled due to a bomb blast in Islamabad on Tuesday.

A suicide bomber detonated explosives outside a court in Islamabad, resulting in 12 fatalities just hours before Sri Lanka’s first ODI against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, announced on X that the second and third ODIs, initially set for Thursday and Saturday, will now take place on Friday and Sunday in Rawalpindi. Pakistan leads the series 1-0 after winning the first game in Rawalpindi by six runs.

This decision follows some Sri Lankan players expressing concerns for their safety and considering returning home. However, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has instructed its players to continue the tour, assuring them of their safety.

The SLC further stated that any player or support staff member returning home against these instructions would undergo a formal review of their actions, and relevant decisions will be made after the review concludes.

Replacements will be dispatched to Pakistan to ensure the continuity of the tour.

Post the ODI series, Sri Lanka is set to participate in a T20I tri-series in Pakistan, including Zimbabwe. The tri-series will run from November 17 to 29. Rawalpindi will host the initial two matches, while Lahore will host the remaining five, including the final.
