MATCH PREVIEW

Afghanistan and Bangladesh, after experiencing contrasting campaigns in the Asia Cup last month, are set to engage in a six-match white-ball series. The series kicks off with the first T20 International at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Afghanistan had a challenging run in the Asia Cup, exiting in the group stage following defeats to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. In contrast, Bangladesh showed resilience in the tournament, defeating Sri Lanka and pushing Pakistan to the edge in the Super Fours, though they didn’t make it to the final.

All-rounder Rashid Khan will continue to captain Afghanistan in the T20I series, while wicketkeeper-batsman Jaker Ali will lead Bangladesh in place of the injured Litton Das.

This three-match T20I series will conclude on Sunday, after which the teams will compete in a series of One-Day Internationals beginning October 8.
