Both Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya were out for significant parts during the second innings in Dubai, due to cramps, as stated by India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel. While Abhishek appears to be in good condition, Hardik’s fitness will be evaluated on Saturday, ahead of the Asia Cup final against Pakistan scheduled for Sunday.

“Hardik will be assessed tonight and tomorrow morning, and we’ll decide after that. Abhishek is fine,” Morkel confirmed post India’s Super Over victory. “Both were experiencing cramps.”

Pandya exited the field after bowling just one over, the first of the innings, while Abhishek remained fielding for 9.2 overs before leaving.

Abhishek, who managed to score 61 off 31 balls displaying remarkable batting for India, did not go out to bat in the Super Over, leaving Shubman Gill and captain Suryakumar Yadav to complete the task.

Following a late finish against Sri Lanka in the Super Four match and a rapid turnaround till the Sunday final, Morkel announced there will be no training on Saturday. In contrast, Pakistan has scheduled a practice session on Saturday from 6-9 pm local time at the ICC Academy.

“Rest is key for the players,” Morkel emphasized about India’s preparation for the decisive final. “They’ve already started rehabilitation, with ice baths immediately post-match. The most effective recovery method is sleep and staying off their feet. Hopefully, they’ll all rest well tonight.”

“Tomorrow, they’ll likely have an individual pool recovery session. Massage therapy will follow to help them mentally and physically prepare for Sunday’s crucial match.”

“As I said, the turnaround is quick, so strategy and rest will be essential. Hence, no training is planned.”
