Kranti’s Pace Fury: India’s Strategic Overhaul Before World Cup 2025
Kranti Goud has significantly bolstered the Indian bowling lineup. She took three wickets, including that of captain Alyssa Healy, aiding India in securing an impressive 102-run victory against Australia in the second One Day International (ODI) at New Chandigarh on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old, who also dismissed the dangerous Healy in the first ODI at the same venue, has emerged as a reliable partner for Renuka Singh, contributing to a promising new ball attack for the host of the Women’s World Cup.
Kranti, known for her ability to move the ball at a good pace, made her international debut in May 2025 and quickly gained attention by taking six wickets in India’s narrow 13-run victory over England in the third ODI at Chester-le-Street.
On Wednesday, the bowler from Madhya Pradesh helped India achieve its first home win against Australia in 18 years. Just over four months since her debut, she has already proven to be an essential player for the Indian team.
In a post-match statement, Kranti mentioned, “I keep it simple. When I talk to the coach, he just tells me to bowl to my strengths. If I do that, I believe it becomes tougher for the batter.”
Additionally, Kranti expressed her admiration for Smriti Mandhana’s century (117 off 91 balls), a performance that ensured India had enough runs to challenge Australia’s formidable batting lineup. “Everyone is crazy about her batting,” Kranti said. “When Smriti bats, the whole stadium chants her name. Now we are focusing on the final match in the series.”
The ongoing three-match ODI series is tied, with India and Australia each having one win. The decisive final game is scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in New Delhi on September 20.
