Keshav Maharaj Side-lined: Groin Injury Rules Him Out of ENG vs SA T20I Series
South African spin-bowling all-rounder Keshav Maharaj has been sidelined for the rest of the Proteas’ current T20I series against England due to a left groin strain.
Replacing Maharaj for the last two matches of the series is all-rounder Bjorn Fortuin, with the first of these matches scheduled to be held in Manchester on Friday night.
In an update from the Proteas Men’s team, they announced via Twitter that Bjorn Fortuin will step in for Maharaj due to the latter’s injury.
Maharaj, currently the top-ranked ODI bowler globally, was absent during the rain-reduced five-over game in Cardiff, with South Africa opting for additional bowling support from Corbin Bosch and Lizaad Williams.
He is the second South African bowler to miss the series because of injury, following Lungi Ngidi’s withdrawal due to a hamstring issue. Furthermore, David Miller will also miss the series due to injury.
