Jaismine and Nupur Punch Through to 2025 World Boxing Championships Finals
Jaismine Lamboria and Nupur Sheoran have advanced to the finals of the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool as of Friday.
In the 57kg semifinal, Jaismine displayed an exceptional performance, defeating Venezuela’s Omailyn Alcala 5-0. Similarly, Nupur Sheoran, the granddaughter of legendary boxer Hawa Singh, dominated the 80+kg semifinals, overcoming Seyma Duztas from Turkiye with the same scoreline.
Meanwhile, in the non-Olympic 48kg category, Minakshi outperformed U-19 world champion Alice Pumphrey, winning by unanimous decision.

While the women continued their impressive performances, the men’s team saw their journey end as Jadumani Singh Mandengbam lost 0-4 in the quarterfinal against reigning world champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay of Kazakhstan in the 50kg category. This marked the first time since 2013 that the Indian men’s squad ended without any medals, following a successful 2023 campaign in Tashkent with three bronze medals.
India is now guaranteed four medals in the women’s categories, thanks to Minakshi, Jaismine, Pooja Rani (80kg), and Nupur. World Cup gold medallist Jaismine faced little resistance, maintaining control with precise jabs and hooks, leaving her opponent with no answers. She is set to face Paris Olympics silver medallist Julia Szeremeta in the final.
In a repeat of July’s World Cup semifinal, Nupur once again emerged victorious, leveraging her height advantage to overcome Duztas. She effectively managed the bout and kept her Turkish opponent at bay, even as Duztas attempted to clinch.
