Ireland has selected five new faces for their Test squad on the upcoming tour of Bangladesh. Led by Andrew Balbirnie, the squad includes just seven players from the previous tour in 2023, which ended in a Test defeat.
Cade Carmichael, Liam McCarthy, Jordan Neill, and Stephen Doheny are all set for their first call-ups, while Gavin Hoey, previously chosen, joins them. Although Mark Adair is fit after knee surgery, he will participate only in the T20I matches.
The T20I squad, under Paul Stirling’s captaincy, welcomes back Tim Tector. Ben Calitz retains his place after debuting against England just over two weeks ago. Eleven of the fifteen players were part of the 2023 tour.
The series begins next month with the first Test on November 11 in Sylhet, followed by a second Test starting November 19 in Dhaka. The action shifts to Chattogram for the initial two T20Is, culminating with the final T20I in Dhaka.
