IPL 2026: CSK Eyes Powerful Swap – Jadeja for Samson from RR?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is moving closer to finalizing a deal with Rajasthan Royals for acquiring Sanju Samson. In return, CSK plans to transfer their former captain and star player, Ravindra Jadeja, who began his IPL career with the Royals. Both players were retained by their teams ahead of last year’s mega auction.

After finishing last in the 2025 season with only four wins, CSK is expected to revamp their squad for the next season. The main issue identified was a lack of firepower in the batting lineup, and acquiring Samson is seen as a key move to address this.

A notable moment in Jadeja’s career was during the inaugural IPL edition in 2008 when he significantly contributed to Rajasthan’s title victory.

However, it is reported that the Royals are requesting an additional player to release Samson. While CSK prefers a straightforward exchange between the two players, both valued at Rs. 18 crore, they are open to including another player if necessary.

Jadeja joined CSK in 2012 for USD 2 million, playing crucial roles in their triumphs in 2018, 2021, and most memorably in 2023 when he hit a decisive 10 runs off the last two balls against Gujarat Titans in the final.

Meanwhile, Samson, who joined Rajasthan Royals in 2013, took on the captaincy in 2021 and led the team to the finals in 2022, returning to the Royals in 2018 after two years with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
