India’s T20 World Cup Prep: Bridging the Fitness Gap Under Coach Gambhir
The Indian cricket team is not yet at the desired level for its preparations for next year’s T20 World Cup, but head coach Gautam Gambhir remains optimistic about reaching that goal.
In an interview with bcci.tv, Gambhir emphasized the importance of improving players’ fitness as India gears up to defend the title on home soil.
“The dressing room is both transparent and honest, and we want to maintain that atmosphere. As it stands, we are not at the level we aim to reach by the T20 World Cup,” he stated.
“From a fitness perspective, we have improvements to make before the T20 World Cup. This has been communicated clearly to the players. We aim for sharpness, agility, and peak fitness. Enhanced physical fitness translates to better mental resilience during high-pressure situations. We have a three-month window to achieve our goals,” added the former India opener.
The T20 World Cup is set to take place in India and Sri Lanka in February-March of the upcoming year.
