India Triumphs Over Pakistan in U19 Asia Cup Clash

India U19 Squad Announced: Ayush Mhatre Captaincy and Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines

In a dominant display, India’s disciplined bowling, spearheaded by all-rounder Kanishk Chouhan and seamer Deepesh Devendran, secured a commanding 90-run victory over Pakistan in their Group A encounter at the Under-19 Asia Cup in Dubai on Sunday.

After opting to bat first, India set a challenging target with a total of 240 runs, bowled out in 46.1 overs. The innings was highlighted by Aaron George’s elegant 85, along with valuable contributions from captain Ayush Mhatre (38) and Chouhan (46).

Pakistan’s response crumbled, managing only 150 runs in 41.2 overs, as they failed to recover from early setbacks chasing a target of 241.

India had a swift start with Mhatre hitting four boundaries and three sixes in his 25-ball innings before Mohammad Sayyam dismissed both openers within the first 10 overs.

Aaron George anchored the Indian innings by consistently finding the gaps, while Chouhan’s late aggression, featuring three sixes, helped India surpass 230 despite frequent wickets.

In Pakistan’s bowling lineup, Sayyam (3/67) and Abdul Subhan (3/42) were impressive, with Niqab Shafiq also taking two wickets.

However, Pakistan’s chase stumbled early, falling to 30 for four due to Devendran’s sharp opening spell, where he took three wickets.

Captain Farhan Yousaf (23) and Huzaifa Ahsan sought to stabilize the innings, but Ahsan’s top-score of 70 off 83 balls was insufficient as Chouhan’s incisive off-spin further dismantled the batting order. Chouhan concluded with figures of 3 for 33, while Devendran delivered 3 for 16, ensuring India maintained control throughout the match.

Despite the match’s intensity, the teams adhered to the ‘no-handshake’ protocol, a continuation from the men’s Asia Cup 2025 strategy, where the Indian team refrained from receiving the trophy from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
