India has been fined 10 per cent of their match fee due to a slow over-rate in the third Women’s ODI against Australia in New Delhi.
The penalty was imposed by match referee G.S. Lakshmi from the Emirates ICC International Panel after India was found to be two overs short of the required rate, even when time allowances were considered.
According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate violations, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for each over not completed within the set time.
India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, accepted the charge and the subsequent penalty, thereby negating the need for a formal hearing. The slow over-rate was reported by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Janani Narayanan, with assistance from third umpire Gayathri Venugopalan and fourth umpire Vrinda Rathi.
