South Africa has won the toss and elected to bat first against India.

DAY 2 REPORT

Even in their most optimistic expectations, South Africa couldn’t have envisioned Day 2 of the Guwahati Test unfolding as favorably as it did. Starting at 247 for six, the Proteas neutralized the Indian bowling attack for almost an entire day to achieve a commanding first-innings score of 489, much to the dismay of the enthusiastic weekend crowd. Their batting dominance was spearheaded by career-best performances from Senuran Muthusamy, who scored his maiden Test century, and Marco Jansen, who delivered a dynamic 91-ball 93. The Indian bowlers struggled to find success on a docile pitch that offered little to both spinners and pacers.
