Increased Security Measures Implemented at Arun Jaitley Stadium for Ranji Trophy Finale Following Red Fort Incident
In light of the recent high-intensity blast near the Red Fort, heightened security measures will be implemented around Arun Jaitley Stadium in the capital for the final day of the Ranji Trophy Group D match between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. The Red Fort’s proximity, just a few kilometers from the stadium in New Delhi, has prompted this response.
“Security will be increased near Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (now known as Arun Jaitley Stadium) for the last day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir,” stated Ashok Sharma, the secretary of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), to PTI on Monday.
He further mentioned, “I will be in touch with the Delhi Police to request the deployment of additional security personnel outside the stadium.”
The explosion on Monday evening, which occurred near the Red Fort metro station, destroyed several vehicles and resulted in at least eight fatalities. Additionally, twenty-four people sustained injuries during the blast on a typically busy evening when the area was crowded with people.
