The ICC has formally denied the PCB’s demand for a change of match referee Andy Pycroft in the ongoing Asia Cup. This anticipated rejection, previously covered by Cricbuzz, was communicated to the PCB last night, serving as the ICC’s official response to their request.
The PCB’s dissatisfaction stemmed from Pycroft’s intervention advising Pakistan’s captain Salman Ali Agha not to shake hands with his Indian counterpart during the toss. However, the ICC clarified that ACC officials present had instructed Pycroft that no handshakes would occur at the toss.
The ICC letter dispelled Pakistan’s suspicion that the match referee was biased towards the Indian team.
