Hyderabad Strengthens Vijay Hazare Squad with Tilak and Siraj for 2025-26 Season

Hyderabad Boosts 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Lineup with Tilak and Siraj Inclusion

India internationals Tilak Varma and Mohammed Siraj have been included in Hyderabad’s squad for their upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 match against Chandigarh, scheduled for January 3, as confirmed by a team management member to Sportstar.

Tilak Varma will assume the captaincy from CV Milind for the match against Chandigarh and the subsequent game against Bengal on January 6. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj is anticipated to be available for selection in the fixture against Jammu and Kashmir on January 8.

Siraj previously participated in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 with Hyderabad, where he impressively took seven wickets across four matches, helping the team advance to the Super League stage.

Tilak Varma has only played one match for Hyderabad this season, appearing in the Ranji Trophy 2025 game against Delhi in Hyderabad. Since then, he has been involved with the Indian T20I and ODI squads during the series against South Africa. Both Tilak and Siraj are expected to be part of India’s squads for the limited-overs series against New Zealand, commencing on January 11.

The inclusion of these two international players is a significant advantage for the Hyderabad team, which has been struggling, having failed to secure a win in their first four Group B encounters in Rajkot. However, despite this reinforcement, Hyderabad’s chances of reaching the quarterfinals are slim, as even securing victories in their remaining three group stage matches won’t suffice to place them among the top two teams.

The match against Bengal on January 6 will take place at the Niranjan Shah Stadium and will be available for streaming on the JioHotstar app and website.
