Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy might not participate in the second T20I against Afghanistan in their ongoing three-match series due to a viral fever. The illness had already sidelined him from the series opener in Sharjah. A team official informed Cricbuzz that a decision on Hridoy’s participation will be made after arriving at the venue.

“We’re unsure about Hridoy’s availability for the second T20I against Afghanistan. Though his condition has improved with antibiotics, he’s still feeling unwell,” the official mentioned on Friday.

The decision regarding Hridoy’s participation will be made upon reaching the ground. He is being monitored by the team’s physio in consultation with Debashish, the head of BCB’s medical team,” the official added.

Bangladesh’s physician Debashish Chowdhury shared a similar update, stating, “I’ve spoken with the team and learned that Hridoy’s condition is better. However, even after a fever subsides, weakness can persist, which might prevent him from playing in the second game,” he conveyed to Cricbuzz.

The second T20I is slated to take place in Sharjah on September 3.
