Historic All-Female Umpire Panel Set to Officiate Women’s World Cup 2025
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday that the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will feature an all-female panel of match officials. This historic decision marks the first instance of a Women’s Cricket World Cup being officiated entirely by women. It is also the fourth global tournament to assemble an all-female match officials panel, following the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the two most recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cups.
“This milestone is part of the ICC’s broader strategy to accelerate the growth of women’s cricket,” stated the ICC in a release. A total of 14 umpires and four match referees have been selected, including experienced umpires like Claire Polosak, Jacqueline Williams, and Sue Redfern, all participating in their third Women’s Cricket World Cup.
