Hardik Pandya Blazes to Record: Second Fastest T20I Fifty by an Indian
Hardik Pandya delivered a stunning performance by smashing the second-fastest T20I fifty by an Indian batsman during the fifth and final T20I against South Africa, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Coming in at number 5, Pandya achieved his half-century in just 16 deliveries, hitting a flat six over deep midwicket off Corbin Bosch in the 17th over of India’s innings. His explosive innings featured four fours and five sixes.
He made an impactful start by sending the very first ball he faced over long-off. In the following over, he attacked spinner George Linde with two boundaries and two sixes. He continued his assault on Bosch with a six and a four before reaching his half-century with another six.
The only Indian to score a fifty in fewer deliveries than Hardik is Yuvraj Singh, who reached his half-century in 12 balls against England during the inaugural T20 World Cup. Yuvraj famously hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over during that memorable match.
