Former Man Utd Ace Anthony Martial Joins Monterrey in Liga MX

Anthony Martial, a former forward for Manchester United, has signed with Monterrey in Mexico’s premier league, as announced by the club on Friday.

At 29, Martial joins Monterrey following a season with AEK Athens. He’s entered into a two-year deal, with an option for a third year, according to the Mexican team’s announcement.

In Monterrey, Martial will be accompanied by Spanish internationals and ex-Real Madrid players, Sergio Ramos and Sergio Canales.

Martial launched his professional journey at Lyon and later transitioned to Monaco before joining Manchester United for the 2015-16 season.

During his tenure with the Red Devils, Martial appeared in 317 matches, netting 90 goals and securing the Europa League (2016-17), the FA Cup (2015-16 and 2023-24), the EFL Cup (2016-17 and 2022-23), and the FA Community Shield (2016).

Martial has also represented France’s national team in 31 matches, with his most recent appearance in 2021.

Monterrey is aiming for its first league championship since the Apertura 2019 tournament. The club clinched the regional CONCACAF club tournament and participated in the last FIFA Club World Cup, progressing to the round of 16 before being defeated by Borussia Dortmund.
