English Cricket Star Under Investigation for Alleged Misconduct

English Cricket Icon Faces Scrutiny Over Alleged Misconduct

A well-known figure in English cricket is currently under police investigation following allegations of drink spiking and sexual assault involving two women. According to a report by The Daily Telegraph, the individual, who is reportedly in his 40s, was interviewed under caution by Scotland Yard in June. This follows a complaint regarding an incident that took place at a pub in south-west London’s SW6 area, which includes Fulham and Parsons Green.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not yet issued a statement on the matter.

The Metropolitan Police released a statement saying, “We are currently investigating allegations of spiking and sexual assault against two women that took place on Thursday, 22 May, at a pub in the SW6 area. Two women are believed to have been spiked, with one also allegedly sexually assaulted. A man in his 40s was interviewed under caution on Thursday, June 5. Enquiries remain ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this stage.”

This investigation comes at a time when cricket’s governing bodies are facing increased pressure to tackle misconduct within the sport. Chris Haward, managing director of the Cricket Regulator, emphasized last month that “removing sexual misconduct from the game is a priority.”

In the past year, the Regulator has charged two coaches in separate incidents. One coach was suspended for up to nine months in August for sending “sexualized and inappropriate” photographs to junior female staff members. Another coach received a six-month suspension last November following “inappropriate sexual behavior” during a county pre-season tour.
