PREVIEW
South Africa aims to secure the three-match series against England in the second ODI at Lord’s in London on Thursday.
The Proteas dominated the opening match, as left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj and medium pacer Wiaan Mulder took seven wickets collectively, dismantling the host’s batting lineup. England’s batters, many of whom recently participated in The Hundred tournament, faced criticism for their hasty shot selection, leading to their last seven wickets falling for just 29 runs.
In response, South Africa had a strong start with Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton putting up a 121-run partnership for the first wicket. Although Adil Rashid dismissed skipper Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs on consecutive balls, the solid foundation by the openers had already decided the outcome.
