The night also belonged to Deepti Sharma, who took three wickets for 18 runs, matching Megan Schutt’s record as the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20Is, with 151 wickets each. Among her wickets was Kavisha Dilhari, who had a 40-run partnership with Imesha Dulani, the highest in the Sri Lankan innings.

The focus then turned to India’s star-studded batting line-up and how quickly they would chase down Sri Lanka’s score. Opener Shafali Verma seized the opportunity, delivering an impressive performance. She scored an unbeaten 79 off 42 balls, hitting 11 fours and 3 sixes, delighting the crowd and securing the series victory for India.
