Dominant Abhishek Shatters Records as Samson Steers Kerala’s Revival
In an electrifying display during the third round of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26, Abhishek Sharma delivered an astounding 148 runs off 52 balls, leading Punjab to a commanding total of 310 for five against Bengal.
Ishan Kishan showcased his prowess in the shorter format with an unbeaten 113 off 52 balls, steering Jharkhand against Tripura, while Rajat Patidar made a strong comeback for Madhya Pradesh with a brisk 43 off 20 balls against Uttar Pradesh.
Ayush Mhatre continued his excellent form with a second consecutive century for Mumbai against Andhra.
Performance Highlights of Team India’s Stars in the Third Round on Sunday:
Sanju Samson
After a challenging second-round performance, Sanju Samson found his form as Kerala triumphed over Chandigarh by eight wickets. Opening the innings, Samson smashed 43 off just 15 balls, including two fours and five sixes.
Experienced bowler K.M. Asif contributed with the ball, capturing three wickets for 16 runs in his three overs.
Suryakumar Yadav
India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav supported Ayush Mhatre’s aggressive innings, scoring 31 off 21 balls, as Mumbai secured a nine-wicket win over Andhra.
Shivam Dube
In Mumbai’s victory against Andhra, Shivam Dube had a subdued game. He wasn’t needed to bat and gave away 21 runs in his two overs of bowling.
B Sai Sudharsan
B Sai Sudharsan struggled with the bat for Tamil Nadu, scoring only one run from three balls in their match against Uttarakhand. However, R. Rajkumar’s explosive 93 off 43 balls led Tamil Nadu to their first tournament win.
Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma played a pivotal role in Baroda’s five-wicket victory over Himachal Pradesh, hitting 41 off 19 balls with three fours and four sixes, guiding his team to victory with 17 balls to spare.
Rinku Singh
Returning to form for Uttar Pradesh, Rinku Singh scored 65 off 42 balls, with four boundaries and four sixes. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to prevent a 37-run defeat against Madhya Pradesh.
Rajat Patidar, playing for Madhya Pradesh, contributed with 43 off 20 balls, while Vipraj Nigam took key wickets for Uttar Pradesh.
Mohammed Shami
In a challenging match against Punjab, Mohammed Shami took the wicket of Sanvir Singh but was otherwise costly, conceding 61 runs in four overs. Akash Deep also faced difficulties, giving up 55 runs for two wickets in four overs.
Varun Chakravarthy
Varun Chakravarthy had a better day with the ball against Uttarakhand, finishing with figures of one for 28 from four overs. He dismissed Kunal Chandela for 47 and was involved in running out Yuvraj Chaudhary for 74.
