DC vs MI, WPL 2026: Lizelle Lee Penalized for Code of Conduct Violation

DC vs MI, WPL 2026: Controversy Strikes as Lizelle Lee Faces Conduct Penalty

Delhi Capitals’ wicketkeeper-batter Lizelle Lee was fined 10% of her match fee and received one demerit point for violating the WPL Code of Conduct during Wednesday’s match against Mumbai Indians.

Lee accepted a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct, concerning the misuse of cricket equipment during the game. The decision of the match referee for Level 1 violations is final and binding, according to a WPL release.

The incident happened in the 11th over of the Capitals’ pursuit of 155 runs when Lee, who was in fine form, was declared stumped for 46 after an extensive third-umpire review. Television replays showed Lee’s bat briefly lifted off the ground as wicketkeeper Rahila Firdous dislodged the bails, resulting in her dismissal just four runs shy of her third half-century of the season.

Visibly displeased with the call, Lee remained composed in her comments during the presentation ceremony, stating, “Look, it was a great take from the keeper. But that’s all I’ve got to say about that.”

The Capitals ultimately emerged victorious, with captain Jemimah Rodrigues regaining her form, scoring a fluent unbeaten 51 off 37 balls to lead her team to a seven-wicket win in the 155-run chase. This victory keeps the Capitals in strong contention for a playoff spot, with four teams tied at four points, while former champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru maintain their position at the top of the table.
