Cricket Hong Kong, China, announced on Thursday that Ravichandran Ashwin has committed to play in the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes. This will likely be his first tournament following his IPL retirement. The six-a-side tournament is scheduled from November 7 to 9.

At 39, Ashwin is one of India’s most successful cricket players, bringing experience, depth, and star appeal to both the Indian team and the fast-paced tournament. The event will feature 12 teams, and additional players from the Indian team will be announced later, according to organizers.

“We are thrilled to have Ashwin join the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes. His inclusion in Team India enhances the tournament, bringing one of the era’s finest cricketing talents to Hong Kong. The Sixes represents innovation, entertainment, and top-tier ability, qualities that Ashwin embodies. We are confident that fans will enjoy an outstanding cricketing spectacle,” said Burji Shroff, chairperson of Hong Kong Cricket.

Ashwin expressed his excitement, stating, “As kids, we all watched the HK Sixes on TV, and I’ve always wanted to participate in this exciting format. It requires different strategies and promises high-octane action, which I look forward to experiencing alongside my former teammates. Competing against top-quality players from the opposing teams will be a great challenge for us.”

Teams from England, Australia, and South Africa, along with India and Hong Kong, will participate in this three-day, six-over-per-side event.
