Cricket Heroes Sneh Rana, Renuka Singh, and Pratika Rawal Soar to New Heights with Railway Promotions
India’s women cricketers Sneh Rana, Renuka Singh, and Pratika Rawal have been elevated to the position of ‘Officer on Special Duty (Sports)’ by the Ministry of Railways. This promotion comes in recognition of their exceptional performance, as they were part of Team India’s triumph at the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup earlier this year.
In a post expressing her gratitude, Sneh Rana stated, “A heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Railways for acknowledging our efforts and promoting me to the post of ‘Officer on Special Duty’ (Sports). Being employed with Railways is a privilege for any sportsperson, as it continually inspires us to perform at our best. I am truly grateful!”
Prior to this, the all-rounder served as a ‘Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk’ with Northern Railways. During India’s victorious World Cup campaign, Sneh participated in six matches, securing seven wickets with an average of 45. She also contributed crucial lower-order runs, amassing 99 runs in five innings with a strike rate of 113. Recently, the 31-year-old was signed by Delhi Capitals during the Women’s Premier League mega auction for the 2026 season.
Pratika Rawal emerged as the second-highest run-scorer for India in the tournament, accumulating 308 runs over seven innings with an average of 51. Renuka Singh, although taking just three wickets in six games, was instrumental with her economical bowling, maintaining an impressive economy rate of just four runs per over with the new ball.
