BCCI Convenes Summit to Bridge Communication Divide with Senior Players

BCCI Hosts Summit to Enhance Dialogue with Veteran Cricketers

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to meet with the men’s team management to establish a strategic plan across all formats and improve communication among key stakeholders. This meeting is scheduled for Wednesday in Raipur, in advance of the second ODI between India and South Africa.

Sportstar has learned that the discussions are expected to include BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and national selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar. It’s uncertain if BCCI president Mithun Manhas will attend. Given that the meeting coincides with a match day, senior players are unlikely to be summoned.

A senior BCCI official noted that the meeting aims to ensure alignment between selectors and the team management to maintain consistency in selection, improve individual development pathways, and boost overall team performance.

“During the home Test season, there were instances of confusing tactics both on and off the field. We need clarity and forward planning, particularly with the next Test series eight months away,” the official stated.

The official also highlighted concerns over communication gaps between the management and senior limited-overs players.

“India is expected to be favorites for the next T20 World Cup and strong contenders for the subsequent ODI World Cup, so it’s essential to resolve these issues promptly,” the official added.

While no specific names were mentioned, there appears to be growing concern about reduced communication with senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Since they announced their retirement from T20Is last year and moved away from Test cricket earlier in 2025, reports of limited dialogue with the current setup have been increasing monthly.
