BCCI Boosts Pay for Women’s Domestic Cricket Matches

Elevating the Game: BCCI Increases Pay for Women's Domestic Cricket

In a significant advancement for women’s cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a uniform payment structure for domestic level competitions.

During its Apex Council meeting held on Monday, the BCCI decided that for senior women’s domestic tournaments, players in the final XI will earn Rs. 50,000 per day, while reserves will receive Rs. 25,000 per day.

For T20 matches, players in the playing XI will be paid Rs. 25,000, with reserves earning Rs. 12,500.

For junior women’s tournaments, the fees are set at Rs. 25,000 per day for those in the playing XI and Rs. 12,500 per day for reserves. In the case of T20 matches, players in the playing XI will receive Rs. 11,500, and reserves will earn Rs. 6,250.

The BCCI believes that by increasing match fees, more women will be encouraged to pursue cricket, thereby further developing the sport.

Although this marks a significant improvement for women’s cricket, disparities remain between the pay structures of men’s and women’s cricket.

Currently, the BCCI pays Rs. 60,000 per day to men who have competed in over 40 Ranji games, Rs. 50,000 for those with 21 to 40 games, and Rs. 40,000 for those with 20 games or fewer. The reserves in these categories earn Rs. 30,000, Rs. 25,000, and Rs. 20,000, respectively.
